Ahmadu Bello University Grants Amnesty to Overstayed Students

Ahmadu Bello University is set to grant amnesty to students who have stayed passed their programme duration due to one reason or another.

The news of this pardon came through a circular signed by the Registrar after a meeting by the Senate held on the 29th of May 2025.

They resolved in the meeting to allow students whose residencies expired during the 2021/2022 and 2023/2024 academic session with outstanding courses register for them. They ought to do so during the second semester of 2024/2025 academic session and first semester of 2025/2026 academic session.

Ahmadu Bello University is doing this to enable these students complete their programme and not be a hindrance to them. This a gracious consideration by the management and should be well applauded.

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) is a federal government research university located in Zaria, Kaduna State. The university operates three main campuses: Samaru and Kongo in Zaria, and School of Basic Studies in Funtua.
